Pheasants Forever Sells Out All Seats at Annual Banquet
NBC Sports episode to air Wednesday, November 19th
The Pheasant Country Chapter of Pheasants Forever held their 29th annual banquet at the World's Only Corn Palace on Friday October 17th, 2014. The chapter sold out tickets 2 days prior to the event and were able to squeeze in another 50 guests, which pushed attendance to over 650 outdoors men and women.
"This was the most exciting and fun-filled banquet our chapter has ever had," said Brad Zimmerman, Banquet Chairman. "Just wait until you see what we have in store for next year."
This year over 30 guns were given away along with several live and silent auction items including a first ever USA made AK47 pistol from Lucid Clem Boyd, artist originals from John Green, James Green, Mark Anderson, Joshua Spies and Nicole Heitzman. Presenting sponsors for the event included Winchester Ammunition, Todd McKillop and Cabela's of Mitchell with over 100 additional local business and individual sponsorships.
NBC Sports was on-site filming parts of the chapter banquet as part of an upcoming series called "Opening Day". The show will give viewers an idea of what opening day of pheasant season is like in South Dakota. The premier will air on Wednesday November 19th on NBC Sports Network.
Additionally, the chapter gave away a shot gun to one lucky youth hunter. Max Tupper of Mitchell was this year's winner. The chapter's 2nd annual veteran's raffle also proved to be a big hit, along with the Wild Dakota Calendar girls and the Star Fire Band.
"Banquets like this could not be pulled off without the hard work of each of our committee members and the overwhelming support of our gracious donors and sponsors," Zimmerman said, "Words cannot express my gratitude towards each of these people."The chapter is already making plans for their 30th annual banquet, which is tentatively set for Friday October 16th, 2015 at the Corn Palace.
